I grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota as the youngest of 5 children. As kids, we learned how to cook and bake from our mom. I remember the days of coming home from school with the smell of fresh baked cookies in the oven.

When I had kids of my own, I started a Christmas baking tradition where I bake for an entire weekend producing more than 3,000 cookies. I then make up dozens of trays of cookies and give them to friends and family for the holiday season. My family gets to enjoy all of the “reject” treats but never seem to complain!

 

After being asked by friends and family members for special treats from my kitchen and many long talks with my daughter and her friends on the way to driving to soccer practice, I decided to get licensed as a cottage bakery. Alexis and her friends helped me come up with my name and the products I should feature! (They also tend to taste test a lot of the products!) I love to see the look on people’s faces when delivering sweet treats to their door!

 

Sota Cakes is a licensed cottage bakery located in North Mankato. As a cottage bakery, products baked and sold are homemade and not subject to state inspection.
